At the risk of tempting fate , Frankfurt are in a similar league position as Lyon in their respective leagues .
A team 5th , 6th or even 7th in the Premier league should have too much for them , assuming most first choice players are avail .
Let’s go at them from the start and take the tension out of the second leg .

I think the sausage boys might be missing a couple of players for the first leg, think they got a player sent off and at least one player got yellows in both legs. No idea if the players are any good or anything though.
I think we escaped fairly unscathed didnt we?

We got it bang on tactically. Keep it tight for the first 20 minutes and don’t lose the game there.
They were always going to come out a million miles an hour in that atmosphere to try and blow us away. We rode our luck a bit but were organised and disciplined. Got to grips pretty well with their two forward players and mostly nullified them.
They were always going to overcommit players forward like in the first leg, are loose at the back, and were ripe to be hit on the break.

Even if we'd conceded early on, I still believe we'd have gone on to win. On the other hand our goal destroyed Lyon's spirit and they never recovered after being on top so early.
I can see the semi being a titanic battle.

First 25 mins were a hard watch, we sat back and they were given too much freedom to attack and seemed to get into the area or whip crosses in way too easily. Lyon could have easily had a couple of goals on another day. The first goal settled us down and we started to play. Johnsons run down the left to create the second goal a great example of us finding some belief.
That third goal by Bowen was pure quality. He really is in top form at the moment. The sort of vision and forward ball we know Fornals has in his locker.
Amazing night and whatever happens in the next round this has been an incredible adventure.

Bloody great night last night, currently in the highlands of Scotland, headed to my local and it was full of Ranger fans watching the game on all three tellys. The landlord, who used to run a pub near Upton Park in the 80's, swapped one of the tvs to our game for me to watch. Very odd being the only person going batshit at the goals, in a pub full of people watching the football.
Fair play to the rangers fans though, then all wanted us to go through and had a great crack, struggling a bit this morning though.

Defended well and took our chances up the pitch when we went forward.
Interesting that 3 out of the 4 teams won away last night after close first legs.
Same again please in the semi if it comes to it!

After going ahead, I feared we would go into our shells and try to defend our lead, but we just carried on playing and pressed home our advantage. We so often don’t do that, so to see it let night was a joy. Lyon’s heads went down and we utterly broke them. Fucking superb.

I really thought we were in for it after the first ten minutes or so, but the players really grew into the game and Lyon looked broken even just after the Dawson header. Amazing stuff from everyone
Not only did we score 3 it’s also the first time in something like 15 years that Lyon have failed to score at home in Europe or something like that
Plus Dawson has now scored more quarter final goals Europe since 2020 than Ronaldo and messi combined!
